Valerian Side Effects - Try The Natural Equivalent of Valerian 'WITHOUT' the Nasty Side-Effects

Valerian Pill is primarily used to treat insomnia and anxiety and is sometimes known through the following names: All-heal, Amantilla, Setwall, Setewale, Capon's Tail or Valeriana officinalis.

 

There is no known written fact on what the active ingredients of valerian are but it is also said to increase the body's available supply of neurotransmitter gamma aminobutyric acid or GABA. On top of that, no one exactly knows how Valerian side effects really works in the body and its entirety is really not well understood.

The problem with the studies conducted is that it has never formed any conclusion at all because the research itself is disorganized having conducted in small groups, limited study designs and have used various amounts of Valerian. All studies conducted on the effects are limited in terms of Valerian facts.

Note however that you don't have to suffer such side effects if you use the much safer herbal equivalent of Valerian . More on that at the end of this article.

Natural it may seem but Valerian pills pose a lot of side effects that we may not know of. One particular side effect is drug tolerance, taking a lot of these pills to see its effect on you can lead to more side effects.

That is why it is better to take the better natural alternative for Valerian.

 

What are the known side effects of Valerian Pills? Light side effects of valerian may include the following:

- dizziness
- headache
- upset stomach or mild indigestion
- itchiness
- dry mouth
- drowsiness during the daytime
- vivid dreams
- palpitations

Sometimes, Valerian side effects are linked to liver damage though it's not yet certain if the Valerian content in the pill really caused it or other components in the product. Technically, Valerian breaks down in the liver therefore interferes with the effectiveness of pills that are broken down by the same liver enzymes such as anti-cholesterol pills, anti-allergy pills, anti-fungal drugs and anti-cancer drugs.

So why take the risk? Instead of taking Valerian, why not take a better herbal alternative to Valerian?

And here's another note of caution: Valerian may seem harmless because it's natural, but if you are suffering from sleeplessness or insomnia and is taking medications such as benzodiazepines, for some unknown reasons, you cannot take Valerian. And why is that? Valerian side effects causes excessive sleepiness or drowsiness if used with other medications and other herbs known to have a sedative effect such as catnip, hops and kava kava. And that sleepiness and drowsiness may have an underlying medical or mental reasons that is left untreated because you are focusing on your insomnia instead.
